Greek word Metropolis (Μητρόπολη) refers as the Mother City from ancient times of settling in new worlds. So we use the same word for the Cathedral that is the major church in a region. It was built in 1862 after 20 years of construction. Almost the same time was the renovation time as it was finally after 12-14 years. Renovation finished at 2016. I live 50 meters away so for me, it was very difficult to “see” it as something very special but actually, sometimes even an everyday picture can amaze you. These days with Christmas tree and all the lights motivate me to bring my camera to take a picture of it.
